Sub-Accounts gets a new name and added functionality

For members with more than one physical location, FindItGuide.com just got a lot more powerful.

Members have been able to link locations for some time, but it was hard to switch locations in the Admin Dashboard, and even harder for users to see the relationship between locations.

But we have just launched several updates that fix all of that.

But first, a quick name change...

The power of sub-accounts is great, but only if members and users understand what they are and what they do. And the names Master Account and Sub-Account didn't really do that...

So, Master Account and Sub-Accounts have just become Locations (with one location designated as the Main Location in the Admin Dashboard only).

How do I add a new location?

If you have already created your Main Location's Profile, it is simple (if not, build that first, then come back to this):

Sub-Accounts are now called Locations; you can add a new location from the left navigation menu

  1. Login as your Main Location
  2. Go to the bottom of the left navigation menu
  3. In the Locations section (formerly Sub-Accounts), click Add Location
  4. Now build your new location!
  5. There is even a shortcut to help you complete the new location's profile: Just click the Copy details from Main Location button (once the Main Location information is copied, you can change anything you want or need to):
Click the 'Copy details from Main Location' button to copy the information from the Main Location to this new Location
  6. And once you have everything as you want it, click the Save button at the bottom of the form.

Ta-da, your new location is ready!

How can I easily switch between locations?

If you have already created your Main Location's Profile and have at least one additional Location, it is simple (if not, build them first, then come back to this):

Sub-Accounts are now called Locations; you can view all of your locations from the left navigation menu

  1. Login as your Main Location
  2. Go to the bottom of the left navigation menu
  3. In the Locations section (formerly Sub-Accounts), click View Locations
  4. You will see a list of all of your existing locations (below).
  5. This list offers all the great information, sorting and filtering options that all of our other list views offer.
  6. You can also View that location's profile page (in a new tab), Login as that location (in case you need to make a few edits, post a new Event, or upload a new Photo Gallery), or even change a location's "Active" state:
From the list of Locations, you can sort, filter, view stats, open the Profile page, Login as that Location, or toggle that location's active status
Note that you can read more about all the features of this list in our article, New Admin Dashboard Layout to View Listings.
  7. When you are done, be sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the form.
  8. You can now also easily jump back to the Main Location by clicking the Return to Main Location link in the left navigation menuThen you can easily jump back up to the Main Location by scrolling back down to the Locations section and clicking the Return to Main Location link.

Note that you must initially login as the Main Location in order to switch between locations like this.

How can users find your other locations?

If you have already created your Main Location's Profile and have at least one additional location, when users visit your profile page, in addition to tabs for your Categories, Classifieds, Events, etc., they will also see a tab for Locations.

Clicking this new tab with change the panel directly below the tabs, revealing a list of all of your other locations.

Users can then easily click any one of them to get more info about that specific location.
Click the Locations tab to view all locations associated with this Member

That's it!

We hope you find the new Locations functionality helpful. It should definitely improve the connection between your users and your various locations.
